Five of six accidents reported this week by the Marshall County Sheriff's Office involved collisions with animals.
Four of the accidents were collisions with deer, while another vehicle hit a cow.
Friday Antionette Lynn LaCroix of Veblen was traveling south on 444th Avenue a quarter mile south of SD Highway 25 when she hit a cow on the road owned by Louis John Vrchota. Damages were set at $1,000 to the LaCroix vehicle, and the cow was valued at $600.
Last week Wednesday Rachel Dorthea Cameron of Pierpont missed the turn at the intersection of Third Avenue and the Anderson Trailer Court in Britton. When backing up she hit a parked vehicle owned by Catherine Gayle Brandsma. Damages were set at $2,000 to the Cameron vehicle and $2,500 to the Brandsma vehicle.
Shannon Marie Wegleitner of Lake City was driving south on SD #27 on Dec. 21 when she hit a deer about .3 of a mile south of 112th Street. Damages to the vehicle were set at $2,500.
On Dec. 19 Todd Marty Monsen of Veblen was driving east on MC #6 at the SD #27 intersection when five deer came out of the ditch. He hit two of the animals, resulting in $2,185 damage to his vehicle.
Mary Ann Eye of Britton hit a deer on Dec. 16 one mile west of the Amherst road on SD #10. Damages were pegged at $2,700.
In an accident that occurred Nov. 21, Nellie Hatfield of Hecla was traveling west on SD #10 about 10 miles west of SD #27 when a deer came out of the south ditch. The collision resulted in $2,138 of damage to the Hatfield vehicle.
